Jean T. Janssen, Houston, serves on the board of directors of the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council, the second largest Girl Scout Council in the United States, as chair of the human resources committee. She is president of the Houston Association of Southwestern University Alumni.
Students at Lavace Stewart Elementary School held a special kick-off celebration today to welcome their adopted Pilot, Southwest Captain Richard Carrasco '84, with games, science discussions, and meet-and-greet activities. Captain Carrasco, a twelve-year Employee at Southwest Airlines, will use his bilingual skills to mentor English and Spanish-speaking students.
Skip Downham '84, a Kappa Alpha alumnus and Alumni Association Board of Directors member, was asked to chair the Greek Life Committee, which met for the first time over the Alumni Board weekend in March 1999. "The idea for the committee surfaced through the Board and office of Alumni and Parent Relations, and I was asked to help in the formation of it. So I cheerfully accepted because I see real opportunity for everyone to use this committee as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information about the Greeks."
Alumnus Curtis Vick was a junior computer science major at Southwestern University when he accepted what he thought would be a temporary position at Texas Methodist Foundation (TMF). A classmate, Chris Cragg '83, worked there at the time and had told him they were looking for data entry and programming help.
