She also teaches archaeology to gifted elementary and middle school students for the William and Mary Center for Gifted Education. She is more than a year out of completing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for breast cancer, which was discovered when she turned 40.

As the New Mexico director for the 1992 Clinton/Gore campaign, he and his staff were charged with converting a state that had voted Republican in every presidential election since 1964.
