Southwestern University Alumna Mollie Butler '95

The following was printed for the Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon hosted by the Greater Austin Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals on January 18, 2005.

Mollie O’Hara Butler, CFRE, serves St. Edward’s University as the Executive Director of Development. In addition to her own fundraising work, she guides the progress of the university’s $65 million campaign and manages the development staff. Mollie attributes her success to a strong foundation in higher education fundraising and a commitment to self-development and service to the professional and philanthropic community.

Mollie discovered her talent for fundraising at her alma mater, Southwestern University, and continued to excel in the profession at positions with The University of Texas at Austin School of Business and with The University of Houston – Clear Lake. Mollie demonstrates her dedication to the profession by continually providing mentoring opportunities for her fellow fundraisers.

Mollie is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and has served on the Austin Chapter board as Membership Vice President, Philanthropy Day Chair, Philanthropy Vice President and First Vice President. She is also a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Junior League of Austin where she serves as a board member on the Community Council. Mollie has been a member of the Greenlights for NonProfit Success faculty and has instructed seminars on the topics of major gift fundraising and board development. In 2001 Mollie received the designation of Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and was recertified in 2004. She and her husband Steve also welcomed their first child in 2004.
