NEWS FROM SU (VOL. 7 NO. 2) SPECIAL EDITION January 31, 2005
An Electronic Newsletter for SU Alumni
THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO VOTE: Today is the last day to vote on the proposed Constitution & Bylaws. If you have already voted, THANK YOU. If you have not, be sure to vote on-line before the end of the day. Call 1-800-960-6363 if you have any questions. Results will be posted on www.sugrads.org tomorrow.
As prescribed by the 2001 Alumni Self-Study Commission, the proposed Constitution & Bylaws provides more opportunities for alumni to be meaningfully involved with Southwestern University. For a quick overview, check out the highlights.
NOMINATE ALUMNI LEADERS: The new governance structure was specifically designed to involve more alumni in leadership roles. So that the Association is prepared for the approval of the new Constitution & Bylaws, nominations are now being accepted for leadership positions. Any alumnus or alumna of Southwestern University (former students who have completed 24 credit hours) is eligible to serve in a leadership position.
Read an overview of leadership positions.
Nominate yourself or other alumni.
TRACK THE ASSOCIATION'S PROGRESS: In 2001, at the request of the Alumni Board of Directors, President Jake B. Schrum '68 appointed an Alumni Self-Study Commission and charged them with conducting an intensive review of Southwestern's alumni program, studying "best practice" programs, and submitting a set of recommendations. Since then, the Implementation Steering Committee (ISC) has used their report, which both the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees endorsed, to enhance alumni programming. Track the Association's progress.
